4pm hour – Bob McCown hosting

First segment: Interview with Doug Smith, Toronto Star basketball reporter

  • Smith talks about the Raptors playing well without Bargnani, believes the team is better without him
  • Smith agrees with Bob that the Raptors may be getting tired of Bargnani and that if Bargnani doesn’t mesh well when he comes back they may shun him

Second segment: Interview with Richard Deitsch, Sports Illustrated

  • Deitsch talks about his end of the year sports media awards

5pm hour – Bob McCown hosting, John Shannon co-hosting

First segment: Talk segment

  • Bob and Shannon talk about Deitsch’s pick for best sports call of the year, talk about sports calls in general

Second segment: Interview with R.A. Dickey, Blue Jays pitcher

  • Dickey talks about what it takes for catchers to catch the knuckleball
  • Dickey talks about how artificial turf might help because a lot of batters only catch a piece of his pitches and it will give his fielders a consistent surface area for ground balls

Third segment: Interview with Bob Ryan, The Boston Globe

  • Ryan thinks the Jays have a good but not great starting rotation
  • Ryan talks about the problems plaguing the Boston Celtics

6pm hour – Bob McCown hosting, John Shannon co-hosting

First segment: Interview with Bruce Boudreau, Anaheim Ducks head coach

  • Boudreau says that during the lockout, he and his coaching staff still go into the office
  • Boudreau says they work out and watch video of the AHL

Second segment: Talk segment

  • Bob promotes Michael “Pinball” Clemons’ charity to build schools in developing countries
  • Donald Fehr’s press conference is played for the rest of the segment

Third segment: Interview with Doug MacLean, Sportsnet hockey analyst

  • MacLean talks about Donald Fehr’s press conference, attacks writers who accuse owners of hiding money
  • Bob thinks that the players’ attempt to decertify the union won’t work because the courts will see through it


I don’t really have any thoughts on this show.  I feel like since we’re in the last week before the holidays begin, things are just kind of coasting until there and that’s what this show generally felt like.

I liked the Dickey interview, but I haven’t listened to the other ones he’s done on other shows, so I don’t know how this compares.
