Cheers from whistler!
I make no promises, and I may regret asking, but…..
What new would you like to see here? What changes to the site should I consider?
Happy weekend!

Happy weekend!
Enjoy this blog very much and look forward to all the different opinions and try to contribute when I can find the time or find the topic interesting.
Now I know this must take up allot of TSM and other contributors time with family and work but if there could be a daily pattern other than the morning or nightly drive pattern. But mostly this is a I look forward the to numbers , listening and viewing patterns of various media outlets. Thanks and good work..
I definitely appreciate having the website. So thanks.
Suggestions:
Put in a forum where we can initiate our own conversations, or allow (more) people to start discussion in on the web page itself.
An RSS feed that doesn’t include the lineups (eg. would only be posts with opinions in them). The line ups are useful but I find they can lead to the feeling of cluttering the page from time to time.
Thanks.

It’s your site … what do you think could be done to improve it?
also, the Rouge Point guy is killing it lately … he has some new details on the Rogers/Score takeover.

Hi there and thanks for asking for our thoughts.
I like the earlier suggestion of more commentary less of a focus on the lineups. They’re great, but I usually read this after the fact, so I’m more interested in reading about the deals behind the scenes, opinions on the job various sports media are doing etc…
Take care and keep writing.

they should rebrand the score as anchor Sportsnet the FAN590 tv and have McCown and Tim and Sid as the anchor of the TV network. move WWE programming to Sportnet1 or City and some of the other shows to Sportsnet channels.

So many terrible ideas here.
So, they should make it a radio station TV network, or just simulcast everything that’s on radio? And WWE won’t move to SN1 as that would be taking it off basic cable, which would upset the masses (that watch it).
TSM, I find myself less engaged with this site as the focus is becoming increasingly related only to the Fan 590 and Bob McCown. There is minimal discussion of newspaper or TV journalism in Toronto and there is little serious critical analysis (beyond the “he sucks”, “the show’s unlistenable”, “Twitter fight”, “ratings are incorrect”) level of discussion. Like Mike in Boston, I am increasingly finding that A Rouge Point is presenting strong data, new information, and avoiding appearing like a fan site for The Fan 590.
Is there any way to get BBM to send you a weekly list of the 10 or 15 most watched live sports events on television in the Toronto market? Their website states they are
http://www.bbm.ca/en/data-usage-guidelines
“willing to grant a nonexclusive license to members of the media who write about television or radio. This license allows them to use and publish a limited, newsworthy amount of copyrighted data”.
Yet any sporadic mentions I see of sports TV ratings anywhere (beyond the list of national Top 30 general shows they publish on their own website) seem to imply it must be obtained surreptitiously from unnamed third parties. Zelkovich had a weekly list in his blog when he worked for The Star, although it was national, not just Toronto.
On another subject, are there any guesses as to how Rogers will use The Score, which they will give a new Sportsnet name once their acquisition of the channel is approved, likely sometime next month? Apparently it may still be limited to 15% live games, which I believe averages out to approximately just over three and a half hours per day. I saw a suggestion that it would neatly fit showing all Blue Jays games, since that would normally be six games a week during the baseball season. The constant ticker requirement may be a slight distraction, but I think this channel’s availability gives it more potential viewers across Canada than Sportsnet One or Sportsnet Ontario, which you’d think Rogers would want for its main sports property of the Jays.
i just listened to the opening segment of Tim & Sid’s 1pm hour from Jan 14th. Their breakdown of the Burke press conference is among the best segments of radio I have heard in the last year. Highly recommended.
this one is for you TSM: apparently Rosie is making news worldwide for her opening line on the doctor sexual assault case. It reads:
.
“She lost a womb but gained a penis”

She has become a bit of an international twitter celebrity with that lede checkout #rosiedimannolede
Current favourite is Lance Armstrong lost a nut but became a dick.
First off, thanks for sharing your hobby! I think a number of us forget that this is really an interest not a vocation for you.
I do enjoy the “Pundit style” reviews where you comment and link to coverage around specific topics. Similarly, I have always enjoyed the intelligent commentary and opinions posted by those like Brian Gerstein, Mike in Boston, Daniel, Alex and others like Julian, Chef Mike and Raptors Devotee who no longer seem to post. Of course there are others but perhaps you can entice them to write a few blog entries on various sports media topics like Ami does with PTS.
I quite often disagree with the opinions posted here but do enjoy most when they get beyond the ad hominem attacks or “they suck” caliber into fun stuff like the Bobism Bingo thread. It is the reason why I enjoy the weekend poll.
A small change would be to change the Blogroll links. The following are dead:

And a nice article on Pep Guardiola:

F.Y.I. Brian Gerstein is Raptors Devotee Cam. Thank you for the kind words. Somehow my handle changed, just not sure when lol.
thanks for the links Kamlesh. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago we had a plethora of sports media blogs and columns and now we have less than a handful.
Too funny well it explains why I like the posts
Agree 100% – loved it.
Bob and Damien would have hated it.
Thanks for the reminder. Great radio! Sid really got to the crux of it regarding Burke.
I think all the people who comment here have a pretty good grasp of analyzing sports media, so the odd guest blog by some of the posters would be great, as it is a stretch on TSM to provide all of the content. I think what Ami has added in terms of PTS has been very valuable. I think it can be branched out to different aspects of broadcasting. On my blog (and yes this is a cheap plug), I will delve into analyzing broadcasting on occasion. Something like that could add to the site…Just my 2cents. Here is my blog.

Ooh… thanks for the tip! I will DL that one. 🙂
You shouldn’t have given it away. We could have a Brian Gerstein vs Raptors Devotee article here you secretly argue with yourself. 😀
Agreed………….that was one of the best Tim & Sid segments I have heard in a long time
It can’t be easy to run this website from Seattle so we appreciate all of TSM’s efforts. Here are my thoughts:.
– I would like to see the local sports radio ratings on a more regular basis (it just seems iin the last year or so we haven’t been getting them as often as we used to)
– I would like to see TV ratings if available (there seems to be very little discussion of sports television on this site)
– I would like to see more weekend content, even if it is just something simple like a poll question each week (for example, on Sunday maybe there could have been a post asking people what they think of the changes to Hockey Night In Canada this year)
