Caught the first segment on PTS today with SI.com’s Richard Deitsch, who unfortunately repeated the myth about there being more sports competition in America than in “Europe” – a very big place with very different sports culture from country to country. But Deitsch is still better than Darren Rovell as he seems to actually watch sports.
Bob meanwhile repeated his old line about Formula One having no overtaking and being all about the car. He’s been saying that since I started listening to him around 2008. That was fair enough criticism back then but for the last three seasons DRS (Drag Reduction System) and KERS (Kinetic Energy Renewal System) have actually led to complaints among F1 fans that there is now too much meaningless overtaking. Tyre changes have also led to different driver skill emphasis sometimes negating car technical superiority. I don’t expect Bob to follow F1 but I mention it as it is another example of him not staying up to date and simply relying on his memories and opinions from years ago. That criticism aside I’m glad Bob still discusses Indycars as he is probably the only sports talk show host in Toronto who ever does so – possibly a legacy of his MidWestern background.

Love this so much, didn’t watch but may have to check this segment out on the podcast.
