I caught part of Tim & Sid (sans Sid) today. Tim made way too big a deal out of Tim Tebow’s statement to the press. He overemphasized his final casual remark (“I’ll talk to you soon” or something similar) and went on and on about how this was an example of Tebow’s ego. Huh? I know it’s not easy to talk for close to three hours about sports every day ( I couldn’t do it) but he was really grasping at straws with that one. It was more like a nothing throwaway remark before getting away from a scrum.

Also, in the same segment there was a guy from NFL Network who was quite knowledgeable but good grief it was irritating listening to him saying “you know” at least once in every sentence. (A pet hate/peeve of mine) Maybe he wasn’t used to public speaking and nervous but it really hurt the quality of the conversation.

Then on came Bob. The golf segment was decent, probably because Bob is interested in the topic, but once again the interviewee’s cell phone was breaking up a lot. Then on came Shannon pretending to be interested in the NBA finals and mentioning a Dr J documentary on NBA TV. I turned it off. Knowing Cox was coming up later made me keep it off.

Something struck me during the Dave Branch segment about the Euro goalie ban.

Is it “non North American” goalies? What about a hypothetical Mexican born goalie, perhaps someone who moves to the US as a kid.

Maybe I’ve missed it, but have many/any of the sports media been weighing in on the Quebec soccer decision? It’s quite a heated topic politically, but it’s also very much a sports story, so I’m wondering if anyone has gone near it.

I haven’t heard anything myself, but admittedly I haven’t had a chance to listen to sports radio much in the past few days.

I’ve listened to about three hours of Tim & Sid the past two days and Monday’s and most of Friday’s PTS without hearing it mentioned on either show.

It’s made for riveting radio on TSN in Montreal, especially with Tony Marinaro & Melnick in the Afternoon. They both sound exasperated.

Well, SN and TSN were effectively the people who relieved him of his duties with the Leafs, so I wouldn’t count on seeing him at either place.
