Are the Blue Jays holding out for a comeback like that of the Oakland A’s in 2006. That division win by the A’s was made possible by 2 extraordinary streaks in the middle of the season.
At the nadir of their season the A’s were 23-29 on May 30. In June they went 18-8, and from July 26 to September 1 they had a remarkable 27-7 record. It either gives hope to fans or shows how long the odds really are.

Gary Bettman usually goes on 590 and 1050 on the same day, but yesterday he was only on 1050 with Naylor and Hogan. On PTS, Bob accused Bettman on running the league with lies and said Bettman should be fired. He also said everything is personal with Bettman. Did Gary stiff 590? I wonder if this will affect who wins the bidding for the new NHL contract.
Gary is the #1 name in Bob’s black book.
If Rogers keeps letting Bob go after Gary its might cost them in the end when the national package plus I bet Gary tries to get Bob fired when they start dealing with Rogers bc thats something GB would do
“If Rogers keeps letting Bob go after Gary its might cost them in the end”
It may, however, I applaud Rogers for allowing their radio personality to keep his credibility (not that it would matter. If Bob were directed to quit taking shots at Bettman, I’m guessing he’d laugh and walk out the door), as well as their stations credibility. I don’t want to listen to a sports station where an NHL commissioner is calling the shots, because technically the station is a ‘league partner’. TSN “hockey insiders” generally get great NHL scoops because they play in Gary’s sandbox the way he wants them to play – so he goes on TSNR, and not the Fan. It’s really the same with CBC. Ron McLean calls a spade a spade, Gary doesn’t like it, so when he does have to make an appearance on HNIC, he almost always comes off like the bitter little bitch he is.
two thoughts on the Bettman interview.
.
1. If TSNR wants Naylor’s show to be credible they can’t have Hogan on as a co-host. nice guy and all, but not someone i want asking Gary Bettman questions. He folded completely in the interview.
2. Bettman ran the interview masterfully. It was good radio and he gave some really interesting answers, but it was clear that GB was in charge.
I hope Naylor and his staff listen back and learn from this. Since PTS is conceding Bettman as a guest to TSN, TSN should be looking to deliver a much better product than what I listened to.
