I thought it was funny and timely when Friedman made the statement “if you can’t write, you can’t speak” when discussing sports journalism. A few moments later, he has Damien Cox on. The king of the non-word “anyways” and the supposed columnist for the Star who doesn’t understand that a paragraph should be made up of more than one sentence.

    How is he still working???

It’s actually quite common in newspapers for paragraphs to be only one sentence long. Don’t know if it is still this way but print journalists used to be forced to write one-sentence paragraphs so that layout editors could have flexibility to make things fit in the space available. There are many things you can criticize Cox for, that isn’t one of them.

    @ Bobby G,

Actually I think its a valid criticism of Cox. It shows he doesn’t know how to properly structure his text. He’s giving his thoughts but has no idea how to properly structure them.

@Roger Actually, no, it doesn’t necessarily mean that. Formatting in a newspaper has more to do with layout editors than it does with the writer. I can write it again if you want, but it probably won’t get through your hatred for Cox. Be my guest and criticize him on the content of his writing all you want. But criticizing him on paragraph structure is just lazy.

    @ Bobby

I was wrong – to believe you had the brain to understand what I was getting at. My bad.

Yes, it was your bad to turn this into something personal. But since you have … If you’re going to have an opinion and share it with the world, it should at least be based on facts and proper assumptions. Something you clearly have no concept of, so I won’t waste my time with it anymore. No one, not one single person, gives a damn about what you think is written well or written poorly. And why you think anybody would care what you think gives us a glimpse into your own deficient intellect. Please continue to share with everyone your silly ignorant opinions so the world can continue to yawn with indifference. It was fun before, it will be again. Good luck to you. You’ll need it. Try not to drown in a bowl of soup.
