DJF gives their take on TSM’s post regarding Rogers and the Jays budget:

It’s a pretty solid take, and one I agree with. Rogers has CLEARLY gone all in on sports. To suggest that they would cut the payroll of a team they own 100% of is kind of asinine if you consider the repercussions. It would most certainly mean fewer fans buying tickets, to get into a facility Rogers owns. It would mean fewer people watching and listening, on tv and radio stations, that Rogers also owns, and sells ads on.

You don’t make the plays Rogers has for content on their platforms, and take the one piece you own and control 100% of and take a shit on it. You do the opposite, actually. You invest in it, because it’s yours.

    From the DJF post:
    .

It began in the curious little corner of the web called Toronto Sports Media, which I’d like to suggest is plenty right there to know not to take it seriously, except that there have been instances where the writer there actually did seem to have something resembling inside information from within the city’s sports media towers– enough that I can’t dismiss what he says entirely out of hand.
    .

That’s some quality writing right there …

As a Jays fan myself I understand the hope that Rogers will keep the Jays as a top 5-10 spending team. But at this point it’s just that: a hope. We’re 1 year in to the new era of Rogers being big baseball spenders. Some fans seem to have forgotten the 12 previous years.
