Maybe this is really old news to close followers of Canadian sports media but I didn’t know James Cybulski had moved to Sportsnet – he was on a minute ago on SN Connected. Given this week’s NHL deal maybe his firing by TSN Radio was the best thing that could’ve happened to him.

Yeah he joined with Sportsnet a little while ago & has been co-hosting/hosting Sportsnet Connected Pacific I believe.

    Rosie DiManno on Don Cherry:

    Some quotes:
“Sports TV is no place for an octogenarian. CBC might not have had the balls to tell Cherry that.”

“Elliotte Friedman has matured into a thoughtful, incisive hockey savant. The rest of the cast, however, is not particularly engaging or charismatic. Baffled observers must wonder how marginal and also-ran ex-NHLers with slim broadcasting bona fides have managed to snag regular gigs on what is routinely among the most watched shows on Canadian TV.”

“My former Star sports columnist colleague Bob Mackenzie, arguably the most knowledgeable and plugged-in hockey commentator on the planet, has already tweeted his loyalty to TSN, where he’s the unchallenged brains-guy. Which just proves that you don’t need to have played the game — in the NHL — to command respect as an analyst.”

thanks for quoting the juicy bits from the article Nan. I have a strict “No Rosie” policy on my web-broswer.

    Be forewarned:

Cox said last week he is co host for 3 straiight weeks.

Alex can that really be any worse than listening to Friedman & Mcalief spew their idiot theories on everything from fantasy football to how relevant commissioners are in landing tv deals for their sports.
