Ask The Toronto Sports Media With Nick Kypreos

By TSM

Before the Toronto Blue Jays kick off their post season playoff drive, be sure to get your questions in for Nick Kypreos who will be taking our questions for this weekends post!

BTW- take a listen to Ron Maclean on the fan morning show today (Thursday). Ron was awesome. He should have his own radio show.

Have read and heard rumors of distaste between Nick Kypreos and Damien Cox. Is that true?

ESPN clown Stephen A. Smith threatened a pro athlete on national TV. Would there be any circumstance where we’d see such a crazy thing in Canada?

Even tho the question would never be asked
” Nick what is it like to work with so many hockey Rogers insiders who are basically clueless day in and day out? “

Any changes coming to the on air product for NHL on Sportsnet ? I seem to recall Scott Moore giving a interview somewhere in print or online suggesting that you guys would have more defined panel crews ? Is that true ? Or will it be exact same set up as last season ?

Also thoughts on what Pete Rose said about Josh Donaldson ?

Does it bother you that those “effers at TSN” still do a much better job covering hockey than Sportanet, even when they don’t have the national TV rights? ….(Don’t let it bother you too much, TSN also does a better job covering the Jays than Sportsnet, which is even more pathetic)

Is the goal of sportsnet’s hockey coverage to talk to the audience as though they are brand new to the game of hockey e.g. trying not to say anything intelligent in fear that any new viewers to the game of hockey might not understand? Or is this just due to a huge discrepancy in the hockey iq of the hockey experts. I’m thinking if not, less would definitely be more. Must be embarrassing for someone such as Kelly Hrudey having to talk hockey with someone like Cox or Shannon.

So much for opening this forum to people with questions of relevance. To get a guy like Nick Kypreos, regardless of how you feel about him, is a pretty big deal. To use it to take shots at the coverage and other personalities adds nothing to the narrative.

Couple of good questions, but the rest not exactly taking the exercise seriously.

TSM might need to have mike in boston say this on every post on this site and not just last Saturday’s post:

“If this will cause you to scream “Rogers sucks” in the comments section, feel free to sit this one out”

How does scoring 90 points in 442 games qualify you as a hockey “analyst”? No really, how does it???

    I hope I’m not “misremembering” here…

When the NHL/Rogers deal was announced you, without prompting, acknowledged (on PTS, I think) criticism of Sportsnet’s hockey productions and said they hadn’t been good enough but would now improve. In what ways do you think the Sportsnet hockey “product” has improved since the deal and where is there room for further improvements? Thanks.

Nick, Rogers/NHL completed year one of the 12 year pact. Going into year 2, are there any changes that you would like to see improved upon moving forward?

Nick, was Mark Hatcher the meanest defenseman you ever saw in the OHL?

Do you think Lombardi said too much about Richards in the recent article?

Does the fact that we have to beg people not to post that “Rogers sucks” on this blog embarrass you?

As some of you may have noticed, I am not a Mike Wilner fan … and, no doubt, I am not alone.

But I have to give credit where it is due. His comments immediately after yesterday’s game were dead-on, basically telling Jays’ fans to go away with their whining about the umpires, the closed roof, the Canadian dollar, traffic, the Conservative government and whatever other conspiracy they want to dig up.

The Jays have nobody but themselves to blame for the hole they are in, period. Kudos, Wilner!

….Also, how does Darren Millard keep a job in broadcasting?
