LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario

With the launch of legal sports betting in the Canadian province of Ontario, providers with official gaming licenses are looking to attract new customers in the online gaming space. Ontario currently boasts the second-largest gaming market in North America. Only the New York/New Jersey market is larger. As such, there is a lot of competition. Savvy bettors will have no shortage of options, such as LeoVegas Sportsbook, available to them.

In this review, we’ll be taking a look at LeoVegas Sportsbook. Up until April 4, 2022, LeoVegas had been one of the more popular grey market operators available to sports bettors in Ontario. However, they recently made the switch to being a fully licensed operator within the province. Both the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and iGaming Ontario have given LeoVegas their stamps of approval.

LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario – Odds Vs The Competition Grade (4.5/5)

LeoVegas offers odds and betting spreads that are in line with their competitors. There are times when the juice is a fraction higher (think -112 instead of -110) which can be frustrating. The flip side, however, is there are times when the juice is slightly lower (-108 instead of -110) compared to other sportsbooks. It’s very rare to see LeoVegas offer a contest at the standard -110 vs. -110. Bettors who typically hunt for underdog action will likely find some decent picks at LeoVegas, as a lower vig adds up for sharp bettors who wager in large quantities

One particularly neat feature at LeoVegas Sportsbook is their customizable bet slider. This feature allows bettors to place wagers on contests at completely customized lines. A single point or two can mean a big difference in placing a wager. So while you might not want to bet the Green Bay Packers at -7.5, using the LeoVegas bet slider makes it easy for bettors to place that same wager at -7 or even -6.5.

Using this feature is a really easy way to get the line you want. The slider will be set by default at the consensus spread, but players can move the slider in either direction to get the line they want. The largest spread I’ve seen is the ability to move the line 15 points using this feature. Obviously, the bigger the spread, the higher the juice. So be sure to check the price before making that bet.

LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario – Market Depth And Variety Grade (4.5/5)

LeoVegas Sportsbook has an extensive list of sports betting options for a wide variety of players. The major North American sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL) are well represented and come with multiple ways to place wagers. Most leagues also include a healthy prop betting market, and live-betting options are widely available for players looking for action during the games.

Canadians, and other hockey fans, will be particularly excited as LeoVegas has the most extensive selection of hockey betting I’ve seen in Ontario. There are a dozen leagues from around the world to place wagers on such as the NHL and many of the popular hockey leagues in Europe. These include the KHL, Del Bundesliga, and a number of Scandinavian leagues from Sweden and Finland.

What probably sets LeoVegas apart from its competitors is its massive market for niche sports. They offer a huge variety of off-beat options from around the world you don’t often typically find at North American sportsbooks. Australian Rules Football, Badminton, Rugby, Chess, Darts, and E-sports betting markets highlight the more niche offerings that LeoVegas makes available to its players. There are upwards of forty different sports and contests those players can bet on which makes LeoVegas one of the top providers of niche sports in Ontario.

LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario – Deposit And Cashout Grade (3.5/5)

Where LeoVegas falls short is the deposit and withdrawal departments. LeoVegas offers four methods that players can use to make their deposits yet only two methods for withdrawing funds. Players looking to deposit money at LeoVegas can use either Interac Ontario, credit card (Visa/Mastercard), or iDebit to initiate an instant bank transfer. These are all very popular payment options and new users should have no trouble making their first deposit.

Withdrawing money? Unfortunately, your options are severely limited. Players can only initiate a cashout either by eCashout or a lengthy bank transfer.

It’s a little surprising that LeoVegas does not offer the same variety of options as many of its competitors. Popular payment solutions such as PayPal, Apple Pay, Instadebit and PaySafe are noticeably absent from this list.

And while deposits are processed almost instantly, like every other sportsbook in the industry withdrawal times can be extensive. Players can expect to wait up to a week to see withdrawals processed from their accounts. These timeframes are in line with other providers, but it’s an area in the gaming industry that deserves improvement.

LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario – Mobile App Grade (4.5/5)

If you enjoy betting on your smartphone, you will definitely want to consider downloading the LeoVegas Mobile App. The LeoVegas Mobile App is available to both iOS and Android users and features all the same content as their website. Users who download the app will have quick and easy access to the LeoVegas Sportsbook. Browsing odds, placing bets, and depositing and withdrawing funds are all available to do using the app.

There are a few aspects of the app that could be improved. The color scheme and the interface could be slightly more user-friendly. Also, users should be able to adjust the time before being automatically logged off. These are minor points, but they do prevent the perfect score in this category.

There have been reports of some users who are unable to access the mobile app. It’s possible that some older models of smartphones or users on certain cellular networks may experience some roadblocks.

However, the LeoVegas website is still easily accessible from your smartphone for users who encounter issues downloading the app. Using your smartphone’s internet browser gives you access to the LeoVegas homepage which loads as quickly and easily as it does on your computer. The interface remains easy to use, and all of the same great features are available for players.

LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario – Overall Grade (4.3/5)

Overall, the LeoVegas Sportsbook is a great provider for any sports bettor looking to open an account. The adjustable bet slider is a really neat feature, and the wide variety of niche market games should be appealing for players looking to place wagers on lesser-known contests.

The bright orange color scheme is a little jarring at first, and the interface isn’t quite as user-friendly as a number of competitors. Also, LeoVegas has an annoying feature that automatically logs users out who are inactive for about fifteen minutes. This is particularly frustrating when live-betting contests. On more than one occasion I’ve missed a good live-betting opportunity as I’ve been automatically logged out of my account.

However, when logged in, the website runs smoothly and provides users a good variety of betting options. And LeoVegas features some of the fastest response times for customer service inquiries that I’ve seen.

All in all, LeoVegas is a great addition to the crowded Ontario sportsbook market.

Is LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario Legit?

In short, yes. In March 2022, LeoVegas was officially registered as an iGaming operator by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. A few weeks later, LeoVegas was granted an operating license by iGaming Ontario. As such, LeoVegas is one of only a dozen sportsbooks that have been fully licensed and regulated to operate in Ontario.

These two government bodies oversee the entirety of the online gaming space in Ontario. With approval from both entities, LeoVegas is not only backed by its ten-year reputation as a safe and reliable operator, but also by the Government of Ontario. In the event of any outstanding disputes, users will have legal recourse. LeoVegas was also the recipient of the ‘Online Operator Of The Year’ Award at the International Gaming Awards in 2021.

Why Choose LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario Over Illegal Betting Sites?

The most important reason for choosing a legal betting site such as LeoVegas is the assurance that your funds are safe. Up until April 4, 2022, the date the new sports betting legislation went live in Ontario, residents within the province have relied on risky offshore sites to place their bets. Located primarily in Europe and the Caribbean, these grey market sites pose a serious risk to Ontario gamblers.

Since each of these sportsbooks and casinos operates under a different jurisdiction, players had no recourse in the event of any disputes. Stories of poor betting spreads, risky deposit options, and, even worse, seized winnings are numerous.

Now that online sports betting is legal in Ontario, players have two government bodies to which they can turn in the event of any disputes. As noted above, the AGCO and iGaming Ontario oversee all matters of online gaming within the province. Therefore, in the unlikely event of a dispute with LeoVegas, players will have the backing of these two government bodies to generate an amicable resolution for all parties. To put it plainly, there is no good reason to continue wagering at an offshore betting site.

Can You Trust LeoVegas Sportsbook Ontario With Your Money?

LeoVegas Sportsbook has been vetted and regulated by both the AGCO and iGaming Ontario. By Ontario Law, LeoVegas is required to adhere to strict standards and practices in the way they operate their sportsbook. They also have gaming licenses in several countries around the world, which requires them to provide users with a safe and fair customer experience worldwide.

LeoVegas has also won numerous awards over the past ten years, including Sportsbook of the Year in 2017 and Online Operator Of the Year in 2021. While these awards were for their casino and sportsbook software licensed in Malta, it’s the same parent company that now owns and operates their Canadian Sportsbook.

LeoVegas has also set up their LeoSafePlay campaign to give players a safe and reliable gaming environment. They have partnered with GamCare and BeGambleAware in order to ensure their players are gambling responsibly. It bears repeating that LeoVegas makes customer safety and satisfaction their number one priority.
